Viggle App Review
Note: This is a review of Viggle, a now defunct app to make money passively. It has nothing to do with new Viggle AI app.
Viggle was previously an app that allowed you to make money passively simply by listening to music or watching TV shows while having the app open.
What you need to know
- Earning Type: Watch TV, Listen to Music, Quizzes.
- Earnings: Have decreased over time. Currently even managing $1-$2 per month is tough.
- Min. Withdrawal: $0.25 – $5.00 but options disappearing over time .

Viggle has Shut Down (Update)
Unfortunately, after several years of reduced conversion rates for points, caps being added to earnings, and the removal of payment options, Viggle has officially shut down.
Please note that this review is for the Viggle app which allowed users to earn money simply by listening to music and watching TV passively. It is NOT in any way related to Viggle AI, which is used to create AI videos.
What is Viggle?
Viggle was a money making app that allowed you to earn passively through watching TV shows and listening to music while having the app open on your phone.
It was a great way to earn, but over time, conversion rates reduced, cashout options were removed, and eventually the app was shut down.
How to Make Money With Viggle
How Does it Work?
Viggle is as far as passive earning goes is one of the most hands off ways to earn some extra side income. Essentially, you watch TV and listen to music as you usually would and if Viggle verifies you’re watching/listening, you will accumulate points that can then be converted into cash or gift cards.
It’s a rather ingenious app, so let’s look at how this actually works:

So, how do you actually make money with Viggle? Well, as noted it is almost entirely passive and you can easily earn a little bit of additional cash via:
- Watch TV
- Listen to Music
- Quizzes/Trivia
But before we go into more detail for each, let’s get you set up:
Getting Started
Simply go to either Google Play or the Apple App store (links removed as app is now defunct), download the app and create an account. That’s it, nothing more than that and you’re ready to start earning.
1. Watch TV & Listen to Music
The meat of Viggle is its ingenious service that pays you to simply watch TV and listen to music.
You don’t actually do this in the app, but via your regular TV, via your computer, radio, etc. The first thing you need to do is check into the app itself. What this does is give Viggle permission to start listening to your surroundings. When a TV show or song is playing in the room you’re in, Viggle picks up on this fact and you start accruing Viggle points (more on what these are later).
Note: Viggle states that it does not record what it “hears” but be aware of the fact that whenever you’re checked it, the app is “listening”. So it’s a personal decision if you’re comfortable with that or not.
While it is passive, within the Viggle app, from time to time you will see ads. You will need to interact here to close the ad when it’s complete, essentially as a confirmation that you are “actively” in the app. No big hardship, but your earnings will be paused until you take action.
Expected Earnings: $2 -$3 a Month
The earning rate is low, at around $2 – $3 a month, but you’re getting paid for doing pretty much nothing. Battery consumption is low and all you need to do is have the app checked in and something playing in the background on TV or the radio etc. to earn.
2. Quizzes and Trivia
This is more hands on, and incredibly simple. You will be given multiple choice quizzes or trivia, usually in relation to a TV show. So it may be which actor plays a certain role, or what location a TV show is set in etc. Points here are very low but can be useful to help you top up your points for a payout.
Viggle is an entirely legit way to make money passively. Although over the years the earning power of the app has reduced. Users could used to earn hundreds of dollars a year, but sadly, this has dropped to mere dollars a month. But still, while low-earning, they do pay out.
How to Get Paid by Viggle?
So we’re all used to money making apps and sites that have a points system that converts to cash. Viggle annoyingly takes this a step further with a double conversion needed:
- Viggle points convert to Perk points
- Perk points convert to PayPal cash (or gift cards)
As mentioned, over the years, these conversion has become less beneficial to you as the user.
The conversion used to be around 20 viggle points to 1 perk point, but this has crept up now to 1,000 viggle points converting to 1 perk point.
The next conversion of perk points to dollars is 1,000 perk points to $1.
So in the past, this meant to earn $5 you would only 100 viggle points, now you need 5,000 viggle points.
Minimum Withdrawal & Payout Options
Minimal withdrawal has bounced around recently. Amazon gift cards start from $0.25, but as mentioned certain gift cards are being removed and it seems to differ whenever you check the app. PayPal starts at $5.
The viggle points to perk points conversion happens because Perk is the platform that actually pays out, not Viggle itself. So it is a little more clunky than you’d hope, but they do pay and in the end that’s the main thing!

- Convoluted points system
As far as true passive earning online goes, Viggle stands above most in that it really is hands off. The ability to earn as you do something you usually do (watch TV and listen to music) is really a fantastic concept.
But while Viggle was strong early on in terms of earning potential, over the years it has sadly dropped to the point where it has become less profitable.
There’s no harm in using it as a pocket money earner, but don’t expect much anymore. Still one of the easiest ways to earn some additional small change.
