What is the Alpha App?
The Alpha App, also known as “Alpha Play and Earn Rewards”, is an Android app that pays you to play games on your mobile device. It features TapJoy, an established offerwall that we’ve previously used to earn on other sites.
It’s available almost worldwide. They don’t make it clear which countries are excluded, but if you can see in the app in the Google Play Appstore, then you’re able to use it to earn.
There has been a heavy ad campaign from Alpha recently but are the claims they make real? Let’s find out all in our full review and earning guide.
Is Alpha Legit & Safe or is it a Scam?
We’ve spent some time with the Alpha app and can confirm that it is a legit way to earn money and that is safe. It is in no way a scam.
It features the TapJoy offerwall, which itself is a well-known and legitimate offerwall. This further increases the legitimacy of Alpha.
You may have seen Alpha’s ad campaign with claims that you can earn $60 by playing games. The good news is that it is actually genuine. Of course, it will take time to complete game tasks to earn this amount but it is very much possible.
Reviews on Google Play
To see if our experience was in line with others we also checked out the reviews for the Alpha app on the Google Play Appstore.
As you can see they have a whopping 1 million downloads, with an average rating of 4.3. Looking through the reviews, they are mostly positive but there is one pain point that comes up again and again – the poor response from Alpha support. So bear this in mind that if you run into issues, you may be subject to slow response times.
How Does the Alpha App Work?
The Alpha app is fairly simple in that you select which games you want to play from the offerwall, complete the set challenges/tasks listed, and then you get paid in Astra coins, the app’s coin system.
From there you withdraw directly to your PayPal account. 1,000 Astra coins convert to $1 of PayPal cash.
Sign Up For Alpha
Once you’ve downloaded Alpha, there is only a single step for signing up. It will ask you to seamlessly log in using your Google or Facebook account.
Alpha also has an age restriction – you must be at least 18 years old to register.
From there, the app is available to use and you can start earning money by playing mobile games.
How to Make Money with Alpha
The Alpha app has a single way of earning, which is by playing games. It features an offerwall, which if you’ve never used one before sets tasks or challenges related to certain mobile games. Once you’ve downloaded the game via the offerwall and completed the listed tasks, you’ll earn coins which can then be withdrawn for cash.
Note: If you want to check out sites and apps with a larger selection of games and higher earning offerwalls, check out our mega list below:
Alpha allows you to earn in one major way with three additional earning opportunities:
- Play games via the TapJoy offerwall.
- Web and shopping offers (Limited).
- Referral earnings.
- Claiming free daily rewards.
1. Play Games (Offerwall)
Getting paid to play games is central to the Alpha app. As we’ve mentioned, this is via a single offerwall – TapJoy. At any time you will see that there are around 100 games that you play to earn.
Above you can see that you can earn a nice amount of cash depending on the game you choose. With 29,000 – 68,000 astra points available per game, that’s $29 – $68 for completing some in-game tasks. Not bad.
It functions just like any other offerwall. You choose your game, click it and it will redirect you to the Google Play Store. Check back at what tasks you need to complete and when you achieve them in-game, TapJoy will credit Astra coins to your Alpha app account. Easy.
Note: Make sure to check out our offerwall game guides to help you complete these offers as fast as possible.
Make the Most of Double Rewards
During your first 24 hours, you will get double the rewards on your first completed task on Alpha.
Because some tasks can take time to complete, we suggest that you make sure the first task on the offerwall that you go for is a quick and easy one. That way you can ensure it is completed within the first 24 hours.
Complete 10 Tasks in 3 Days
Another time-limited offer that you should take advantage of is to complete 1-10 tasks within the first 3 days. For this, you can grab a total of 2,900 extra Astra coins, which works out as an additional $2.90 on top of whatever you earn. Not a huge amount but still, it’s extra free cash just for prioritizing your tasks:
2. Web & Shopping Offers
Within Alpha’s TapJoy offerwall, you can also earn with shopping offers and web offers. These will be highly variable depending on which country you’re accessing from.
For us, our shopping offers were always empty. If you’re in the USA, you’re more likely to see some offers here.
Secondly, the web offers, or rather a single web offer. We were able to get 111 Astra coins just for signing up for Surveyoo, a paid survey site (that you can use to earn additional cash by the way).
It only took us 30 seconds to sign up and it opened up another separate earning opportunity. Not too shabby.
3. Referral Earnings
You can earn some additional cash with the Alpha app via their referral system. If someone signs up via your link, you’ll earn 1,000 Astra coins and so will they. That’s $1 free for both of you.
Speaking of which, if you sign up to Alpha via this link you’ll snag that $1 free for yourself.
4. Claim Free Daily Coins/Cash
You can also get free cash every day with “Alpha Play and Earn Rewards” with their daily rewards:
So this works out as:
- Day 1 – 3: 10 Astra coins which are worth $0.01.
- Day 4: 100 Astra coins which are worth $0.10.
- Day 5 – 6: 10 Astra coins which are worth $0.01.
- Day 7: 250 Astra coins which are worth $0.25.
We’re not talking huge money here, but that’s $0.40 free every week, $1.60 free a month, and $19.20 a year just for opening the Alpha app each day. If you combine this with other free daily rewards from Swagbucks, Freecash, Gain.gg, and more you can collect a decent chunk of cash each month just for opening an app, website, etc.
How Much Money Can You Make With Alpha?
The amount of money you can earn with Alpha of course depends on how many tasks you complete for games on the offerwall. If you target the high-paying game offers, you can potentially earn $100 in a month with moderate use.
If you take advantage of the free daily Astra coins/cash rewards, you can add a guaranteed $1.60 on top of that.
How to Get Paid by Alpha?
Alpha pays you via PayPal once you’ve hit the minimum withdrawal amount and have selected to cash out.
Your Astra coins are converted into cash and sent directly to your PayPal account.
You should be aware that there is one pre-requisite in that you need to verify your identity before a withdrawal is possible.
Identity Verification (KYC)
Before you’re able to request the withdrawal of your cash, you will need to confirm your identity. This is becoming more and more common as earning apps and sites are increasingly subject to regulations.
Some might find the process of ID verification a little uncomfortable, but rest assured that it is all above board and done via an established ID verification/KYC (Know Your Customer) service called Tilia.
The ID verification is one-time, and as soon as your identity is confirmed you’re free to withdraw whenever you reach the minimum withdrawal amount.
Minimum Withdrawal & Payout Options
Alpha offers a single payment method which is PayPal. PayPal is always our preferred withdrawal option but may be problematic if you prefer another method.
The minimum withdrawal amount is 10,000 Astra coins, which is $10.00.
As you can see there is a flat rate of 1.5% for the payout fee. If you’re withdrawing $10, this fee only works out as $0.15 so you’ll still get $9.85 of your earnings. Not a huge drop but something to bear in mind.
Payout Speed
The payout speed for the Alpha app is pretty fast and is usually processed in 1 day. However, Alpha notes that in some cases there can be delays and to allow for 5-10 business days in a worst-case situation.
The 1 day usual payout time is good in comparison to other similar sites/apps, so a thumbs up on this aspect of the app.
Alpha App Review Summary: Pros & Cons
Pros
- Low payout threshold.
- High paying gaming app offers.
- Available globally, more or less.
Cons
- Less gaming app offers than other sites/apps.
- Android only.
- Slow support response.
The Alpha App is a compact and focused way to earn money by playing mobile games but suffers from providing only a single offerwall. Other similar sites and apps feature multiple offerwalls and more choice. However, the gaming offers that it does have are reasonably high paying.
The low withdrawal minimum of $10 means that you can get a hold of your cash quickly via PayPal. With the high-paying gaming offers and free daily Astra coins, you should hit the minimum easily.
One thing to note is that Alpha does require ID verification before your first withdrawal. This is something that many money-making apps and sites are implementing to comply with regulations. It’s done via an established 3rd party provider so you can be confident that your details are safe and secure.
While it is available almost globally, there are some country exclusions, but unfortunately, this is not made clear. There are further restrictions with the app being Android only. It is not available for iOS. Finally, you must be at least 18 years old, presumably to cover the ID verification. These restrictions may make Alpha a no-go for you.
If everything goes smoothly, which in our experience it normally does (in terms of being credited/paid) you’re good. But if you need assistance from their support team you can expect a very slow response.
Generally, Alpha is an OK way to earn money. There are better options out there for get-paid-to apps and sites but you can make a decent chunk of cash here.
Our advice is to join, and earn what you can but also make sure not to forget about the other get-paid-to sites out there.
Final Thoughts
The Alpha app is a decent way to earn some extra cash by playing mobile games but is a little strict in its availability. It’s only available on Android and you must be 18+. But if you fit this criteria, we suggest you add it to the list of GPT sites/apps that you use regularly.
At the very least, make sure you log on daily to grab your free rewards.
All-in-all, there are better ways to earn, but Alpha is a perfect good way to earn in combination with other sites and apps.
