G.Round (Gameround) review and earning guide. Can you really earn money by playing and testing video games? Find out all in our review.
G.Round, also known as “Gameround”, and as you can see in the logo “Gameplay Ground”, is a site where you can earn points to exchange for games, products, and gift cards. You earn by playtesting games, reviewing them, and answering surveys about them.
But, is it worth your time? And can you actually earn a fair amount by just playing games?
Read on to find out in our complete G.Round review and earning guide.
G.Round is a site where you can earn points that can then be exchanged for gift cards or products simply by taking part in playtesting/playing video games. G.Round is also known as Ground, and it is also known as Gameround, and it is also known as Gameplay Ground which makes for a bit of a confusing situation regarding naming. For the sake of clarity, we will refer to it by G.Round in this review.
Despite the indecisiveness around their name, it is a decent opportunity to earn assuming you’re OK getting products/gift cards rather than actual cash.
Playtesting consists of playing the games, reviewing them, and answering survey questions about them. The whole process is simple but there are some things that you need to consider which we’ll address later in the review.
Yes, G.Round is legit, safe, and secure. You are required to download and install a launcher on your PC which will allow you to in turn download and install the games to test. This gives confidence that the games you’re downloading are vetted and served directly by G.Round, so the chance of installing malicious programs on your PC is removed.
G.Round’s Trustpilot reviews also back up its legitimacy and safety. As you can see below, as of writing G.Round has an impressive 4.4 rating on Trustpilot. These independent reviews show G.Round in a good light and reflect our own experience with the platform too.
As mentioned, G.Round is a platform that pays you to playtest games before they’re released. This is PC only at the moment and there is a requirement to install their game launcher. The game launcher is then used to download and play the games that you will be testing.
You won’t just be testing the games either, you’ll also be reviewing them and answering surveys about them. Points are given for these tasks, but some tasks are dependent on quality which is an important point that we’ll address below.
As you’d expect, the first step is to register with G.Round. There is no acceptance or verification, just use one of your social accounts (or even just sign up via email), and then fill in a few basic additional details.
There’s nothing complex here, and you can jump into earning immediately as soon as you’ve signed up.
Once you’re all signed up you will be prompted to download the G.Round game launcher. This is PC only, so you will need a PC to download and use the launcher to playtest games. Again, a very easy process, just download and install.
Unfortunately, this means that if you only have a Mac for example you won’t be able to earn by playtesting the games with G.Round.
Now, the important part is how to actually earn money by playing video games with G.Round. The first point to note is that you cannot directly earn cash with G.Round. You earn points that can be exchanged for Steam gift cards/wallet funds, Amazon gift cards, digital game codes, and gaming products such as mice, controllers, keyboards, and headsets. Be aware though that the gift cards are in limited supply and only become available at certain times.
With that in mind, you can head to your launcher and pick a game to playtest.
Above you can see the game list that was available for us. The games are available to test for a limited time, so make sure you jump on them as soon as you can. Additionally, every week on a Thursday, 2 new games are added. This means you have a constant stream of games to test and earn from.
You will earn 5 points (5 G.P.) for each game downloaded and played. However, this is the smallest part of your earnings. You earn more from reviews and surveys related to the game which we’ll touch on below.
Once you’ve had time to play around with the game you’ve downloaded, you can then write a review and answer a survey related to the game. All added together you can earn up to 100 points per game. Let’s address the reviews first.
As you can see above, you earn 15 points for completing a review of the game that you played and then potentially an additional 25 points if the studio that created the game selects your review. This is a very important point – if they select your review.
G.Round claims that they value honesty in reviews and as long as it is well written then you’re good. But think about it for a moment. Why would a studio select a bad review of their game? So, the unfortunate advice that I give here is to give positive reviews. If you don’t, you’re only going to remove the chance at an extra 25 points.
It’s also important to remember that reviews will only unlock if you’ve played the game for at least 30 minutes first.
You also have the opportunity to earn even more points by answering a survey related to the game. For this, you will get 20 points for completing the survey and an additional 35 points for your survey being selected by the studio.
The studio selecting a survey is a confusing point for me. I’m not sure what the criteria could possibly be here. And I’m not sure why a studio would “select” a survey, whatever that even means. Regardless, I would again advise you to be detailed in your survey responses, overall positive and any criticism should be constructive.
As we’ve mentioned, you will not be paid in actual cash. But you will be able to convert the points you’ve earned into:
The point conversions differ quite dramatically. For example, you can get a $20 Steam gift card for only 260 points, which theoretically you can earn after testing, reviewing, and answering a survey for only 3 games.
In comparison, with merch, you can buy a G.Round cup for 800 points, which is 8 games playtested. But then, a gaming mouse can be snagged for just 400 points (4 games playtested).
Just make sure to convert your points in a way that gets the most bang for your buck.
Finally, be aware that gift cards are limited in supply and are only temporarily available, so check regularly to make sure you don’t miss out.
While the process of being paid to playtest games is simple, there are a few things you can do to earn a bit more points on G.Round. And there is minimal effort involved to boost what you earn:
Mistplay allows you to earn simply by playing games. Earn around £20 for 2-3 weeks of semi-passive game playing.

Read MoreG.Round is a nice way to earn just by playing games and giving your opinion on them. You get to play pre-release games and earn (points) for the pleasure. The games themselves are unlikely to be blockbuster hits but you get a glimpse at what most people don’t.
The whole process is simple. Play a game for 30 minutes, write a review, and answer some survey questions. A really easy way to earn. But it’s not all good. The fact that the bigger points are hidden behind studio selections of your review/survey is a little unfair in my opinion.
What really surprised me about G.Round is how generous their points-to-value conversion is. A $20 Steam card can be earned in as little as 3 playtests/reviews/surveys. But again that is a double-edged sword as gift cards are limited and only available temporarily.
I wish there was a simple PayPal option but unfortunately, there isn’t.
Overall, if you want to monetize your gaming and free time G.Round is a good way of doing this. And if you’re looking for new gaming accessories, the ability to convert your points into merchandise is a nice perk.
While there may be downsides, we think that G.Round is one to watch and definitely an earning opportunity that those with a PC should try.
There’s always more to ask, so even though we’ve laid out the full G.Round review and guide above, we’ve packed some extra information into our FAQ.
