What is PlaylistPush?

PlaylistPush Review Header

PlaylistPush is a platform that will pay you to listen to music and review it. You can either do this by becoming a Spotify Curator or a TikTok curator. Artists themselves will pay PlaylistPush to start campaigns and that cash in turn is passed on to you as you listen to and review their songs.

It all sounds very easy but there are some complications and rather strict requirements that you need to stick to. We’ll get onto that below.

Is PlaylistPush Legit/Real or is it Fake?

Yes, PlaylistPush is a legitimate way to earn money by listening to music and reviewing it. It is a real way to monetize your love for music and is not a fake site. To set your mind at ease it has even been featured in publications such as Wired, The Los Angeles Times, and Rolling Stone.

What’s more, PlaylistPush has over 1,000 reviews on Trustpilot with an “excellent” rating as of writing.

We have found no reports of any suspicious behaviour or non-payments regarding this earning opportunity.

How Does PlaylistPush Work?

As mentioned above, PlaylistPush seems like a fantastic way to earn just by listening to and reviewing music. However, the barriers or requirements to join are incredibly strict. In fact, most people will not be able to join without some significant work.

The catch is that to join (and earn) as either a Spotify curator or a TikTok creator you must already have a decently large following on the relevant platform.

Let’s look at the earning opportunities available with PlaylistPush:

Option 1: Spotify Curator

PlaylistPush review spotify earn

The first option to earn with PlaylistPush is to become a Spotify Curator. A Spotify Curator is someone who listens to and reviews music tracks sent to them by PlaylistPush. You are then of course paid up to a maximum of $15 for this review.

The interesting thing here, and something that PlaylistPush states very directly is that you are NOT paid to add the song to your playlists. I feel that this may be more of a way to abide by Spotify’s rules and most likely underneath there is the implicit understanding that you will in fact add these songs to a playlist.

And this is where the requirements come in. In order to be accepted as a curator, you need to fulfil the following requirements:

  • Minimum 1,000 followers per Spotify playlist.
  • Minimum 30 Active Monthly Listeners per playlist.
  • Minimum 1% Active Monthly Listeners per playlist.
  • No playlists that change their title to attract followers.
  • No playlists for a specific album, song, artist, or band.
  • No playlists focused on a specific decade (i.e. 80’s).
  • No playlists with “follow me” in the title.

So as you can see, if you don’t already have a large following on Spotify, you will simply be denied access. However, if you do meet the criteria then all you need to do is to potentially clean up some of your playlists to ensure you’re not breaking the other rules above.

Opportunity

  • A huge number of ways to earn.
  • Free daily cash.
  • Earn by playing games.
  • Earn with surveys.

Option 2: TikTok Curator

The second option is to sign up as a TikTok Curator. PlaylistPush does not specify the requirements but does expect a high number of followers and video views. As of writing, they have paused their TikTok Curator signups but you can still join a waitlist by indicating your current follower/video view counts.

The way it works is that you are shown a list of “sounds” (music tracks) in PlaylistPush where you can listen and then choose whether or not to use it in your TikTok video:

As a TikTok curator, you can earn much more than a Spotify curator – up to a maximum of $250 per video. But the requirements for your video itself to be accepted are very, very strict:

  • Make High-Quality Videos Using the Artist’s Sound.

  • Keep the Artist’s sound at 50% or higher.

  • Videos are at least 10 Seconds Long.

  • Follow artists video concepts.

  • Make Original Videos (no still images, screenshots, or existing videos).

  • Keep ALL video-sharing settings turned on (social, duet, stitch, etc.).

  • Keep comments on videos turned on.

  • Many restrictions on what you can/cannot show or do in the video.

Check here for the full list of PlaylistPush restrictions.

Option 3: PlaylistPush Affiliates

Now for this third option affiliate/referral earnings. You may be thinking “Great, I don’t need a huge following on Spotify/TikTok to earn!”. Unfortunately, that is not the case. For reasons that are beyond me, PlaylistPush restricts any affiliate or referral earnings to those who have already been accepted as a curator.

So, even if you have a hugely popular blog for example, but no TikTok or Spotify presence, then you’re out of luck. To me this is a bizarre choice as PlaylistPush is limiting their own marketing behind restrictions that don’t normally apply to affiliate sales.

However, if you have managed to pass the gauntlet and are registered as a curator, then the earnings via their affiliate program are pretty decent:

Affiliate earnings are only available for existing curators.

Looking behind the scenes at the artist sign-ups you can see that the expectation is that they spend several hundred dollars. And if your link is used you’ll snag 10% of that spend. The average an artist pays for a Spotify campaign is $450 and the minimum paid for a TikTok campaign is $380.

The rates for referring a curator are poor however as it is only 10% on the first 3 months, whereas most referral programs would give you a cut of the lifetime earnings.

How Much Money Can You Make?

Now, the important part. How much money can you actually make on PlaylistPush? Assuming you pass the requirements and become a creator then you can make a good amount of money. Being able to monetize an existing TikTok or Spotify following in such an easy way is honestly a big plus here.

As a Spotify curator, you can earn up to $15 per review, and as a TikTok curator, you can earn up to $250 per video. Note, that PlaylistPush only states these as maximums and does not discuss or make available the minimums.

Something else to bear in mind is that the artists, who are really the ones paying you spend on average $450 on Spotify campaigns and a minimum of $380 on TikTok campaigns. The TikTok figure especially shows you that earning $250 is not going to be very likely in most situations.

If you are planning on starting from scratch and building a following on Spotify or TikTok especially to get accepted with PlaylistPush, you are going to have a long road ahead of you. Instead, we suggest diving into our huge list of ways to earn online.

Be wary of PlaylistPush’s statements of “up to $15/$250” as these earning brackets are most likely associated with those with huge followings.

How to Get Paid by PlaylistPush?

PlaylistPush offers a few withdrawal methods which are direct payment into your bank account, PayPal, and Venmo. The minimum withdrawal amount is $20, which would be high on some other sites, but based on what you can potentially earn I think it’s a fair threshold.

They state that it will only take 4 days from requesting your payout to the funds being available in your account. And that isn’t a bad turnaround on payments.

More Ways to Earn

PlaylistPush Review Summary: Pros & Cons

Pros

  • High (maximum) earnings.
  • Monetize your love of music.
  • Quick payouts.

Cons

  • Must have a large following on Spotify.
  • Must have a large following on TikTok.
  • Does not report lower tier earnings.
  • Very strict approval process.

On paper, PlaylistPush is an absolutely fantastic way to earn money by listening to music. However, that earning opportunity is hidden behind very strict registration requirements. To even stand a chance of joining you must have either 1,000 followers on Spotify or several tens of thousands of followers on TikTok. Even then, you must abide by some of the strictest rules and requirements I’ve ever seen for an earning opportunity.

As such, most people simply will not be able to join PlaylistPush in the first place.

But, for those that do there is a potential to earn up to a maximum of $15 per review for Spotify campaigns and $250 for creating a high-quality TikTok video featuring the artist’s song.

From the perspective of payouts, they give you lots of options. You can withdraw directly to your bank or via PayPal or Venmo. The threshold is $20, which if you’re able to get a few reviews behind you should be easy to achieve. The 4 day turnaround on payments is pretty good too.

All-in-all, the restrictive nature of this earning opportunity lets it down. Although I can understand it from a business model as artists need to connect with those with high follower counts. If you are someone with high follower counts on TikTok/Spotify, then you really should check out PlaylistPush.

PlaylistPush FAQ

There’s always more to ask, so even though we’ve laid out the full PlaylistPush review and guide above, we’ve packed some extra information into our FAQ.

No, there is no PlaylistPush mobile app. You will need to interact with PlaylistPush via their website.

No, PlaylistPush is not fake. It is a legitimate, yet highly restrictive way to earn money by listening to music and writing reviews (or creating video reviews).

Final Thoughts

If you are someone who already has a large following on Spotify or TikTok, then PlaylistPush could be a very nice earning opportunity. For those that do not, we suggest that you do not waste your time building up followers. Unless of course, you’re doing so to cover multiple side hustles.

To sum up, a good way to earn for some but for most people, you likely won’t get past the registration page unfortunately.
